This aftermarket replacement fuel pump timing spacer (also known as a fuel pump timing shim) is used to adjust the timing of the fuel injection pump on Caterpillar diesel engines. The spacer is placed between the fuel injection pump and the engine block to set the pump's position relative to the engine's rotation. The 2M-4210 is a precision-thickness spacer - changing spacer thickness adjusts injection timing.
