This planetary (planet) gear is a component of the travel motor and final drive assembly -- specifically the 1st and 2nd stage carrier on Komatsu PC-series hydraulic excavators and material handlers. The final drive planetary gear set reduces input speed and multiplies torque to drive the machine's tracks. Replace worn or damaged gears promptly to prevent accelerated carrier and ring gear wear.
